from New York (Three hours, 20 minutes)
Traveling from New York City or from New Jersey or parts south, there are two popular routes. One is the highway, easy to drive and, though more miles, travels faster so the time is about the same. The other way is the scenic route, which is the Taconic Parkway.
The highway
- Take I-87 north to the New York Thruway (I-90).
- At Albany, take the Thruway east towards Boston. It becomes the Mass Pike.
- Take the Mass Pike to exit 2 for Lee.
- After the tollbooth, keep right and go into Lee, traveling for 1.3 miles, following Main Street as it winds left and then right and then left again through town. After you cross the railroad tracks, you will pass over the Housatonic river.

The Scenic Route
- Leave New York on the West Side Highway.
- From the West Side Highway take Sawmill Parkway.
- From Sawmill Parkway take Taconic Parkway.
- After a couple of hours, take the exit for Rt. 23 east (to the right) towards Hillsdale and Great Barrington.
- After about a half-hour drive from the Taconic, you will arrive in Great Barrington. Turn left at the first light, which is turning north on Route 7, which is also Main Street in Great Barrington. As it winds through town, follow the signs for Rte 7 north towards Stockbridge and Lenox.
- Upon leaving Great Barrington, travel about 7 miles to the town of Stockbridge. Route 7 takes a right as it again becomes Main Street. Follow this for about ½ mile when you again turn north (left) on Route 7 towards Lenox.
- A few miles from Stockbridge town center you will cross the town line and enter the town of Lee. You will pass Summer Street on the right, and then go over a small rise. You cross another town line and enter the town of Lenox. After the town of Lenox sign the entrance to Foxhollow is the next turn on your right, easy to see for its impressive iron gates and marble columns and walls.
- Turn into Foxhollow and follow the main driveway through 300 towering white pines until you see tennis courts on your right. Turn towards them and drive past them. On your left you will encounter three buildings (not The Ponds, which are on the right). The names of the buildings are, in turn, Clarity, Purity and Truth.
